Alessandro Ruggiero was born in Salerno, Italy, in 1971. In 1997, he received the Master’s degree cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Salerno, Fisciano. He frequented the Tribology Ph.D. course at the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, from 1997. From 1999 to 2005, he was Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Salerno, where he has been Associate Professor with the Department of Industrial Engineering since 2005. In 2017 he gained the Italian National Habilitation to Full Professor in Mechanics for Machines. He has authored more than 150 scientific papers of international level. He is a referee for some prestigious international journals and evaluates national/international research projects. He collaborates with numerous international university centers. His current research interests include dynamics of mechanical systems, biomechanics, tribology and biotribology, noise and vibration control.
